About the Workshop
The EurOPDX Consortium is an initiative of translational and clinical researchers from 18 academic cancer centres and universities across Europe and in the United States, with the common goal of creating a network of clinically relevant models of human cancer, and in particular patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models. Since its inception in 2013, the Consortium has been working on structuring European efforts in the field, for instance through the harmonisation of procedures and activities to make our joined distributed resource of 1000+ PDX models accessible to the scientific community.
These efforts are notably supported by a four-year Horizon 2020 grant to build a EurOPDX Research Infrastructure for trans-national access to PDX models (more on www.europdx.eu).
Part of the Consortium's objectives is to open up to other researchers in Europe and worldwide, and in particular teach young researchers state-of-the-art techniques related to PDX models and preclinical drug development.
After the success of the first two editions of our educational workshop in October 2016 and 2018 and having to postpone several times this 3rd edition during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are thrilled this is finally happening! For this edition we are moving to the shores of the North Sea in Egmond aan Zee in the Netherlands. The programme will feature speakers from the Consortium, as well as from other international academics and industry to cover in particular the following topics:
- PDX model initiatives, collections and standards
- Advances in in vitro/ex vivo platforms for drug screening
- The future of animal research in Europe
- Humanised & Orthotopic PDX models
Speakers will include
HAYLEY FRANCIES Wellcome Sanger Institute
FRANÇOISE FARACE Gustave Roussy
ELISABETTA MARANGONI Institut Curie
DANIELA THOMMEN Netherlands Cancer Institute
LEO PRICE Crown Bioscience Netherlands
LLUIS MONTOLIU Centro Nacional de Biotecnología Madrid
GIORGIO INGHIRAMI Weill Cornell Medicine
ANIELLO FEDERICO German Cancer Research Center DKFZ
The meeting will be an opportunity to meet and exchange with world-renowned experts in the field. Two "Meet the experts" session will also be organised, as a targeted networking opportunity focusing on your particular research interest and/or issue encountered in your research. Selected abstracts will be presented in two poster sessions, and several abstracts will also be selected for short talks (PhD and postdocs only).
Registration is limited to 130 attendees to allow optimal networking and collaboration. So don’t wait any longer to register and submit your abstract!
